Obstetrics Services We Provide

Preconception Counseling and Testing

Preconception counseling and testing for a prospective mother typically involve a series of discussions and medical assessments aimed at optimizing her health before pregnancy. This process includes reviewing her medical history, assessing potential genetic risks, discussing lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, and substance use, and screening for infections or chronic conditions that could affect pregnancy. Genetic testing may be recommended based on family history or ethnic background to identify potential risks for the baby. Overall, the goal is to identify and address any potential issues to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Prenatal and Postpartum Care

Prenatal care for a new mom visiting an obstetrics doctor would involve regular check-ups throughout the pregnancy to monitor the health of both the mother and the developing baby. This includes physical exams, ultrasound scans, and blood tests to track the progress of the pregnancy, check for any complications, and ensure the well-being of the baby.

Postpartum care focuses on the recovery and adjustment period after childbirth. The obstetrics doctor will provide guidance on caring for the newborn, monitor the mother’s physical and emotional health, discuss breastfeeding or formula feeding, and address any concerns or complications that may arise during this time. Follow-up appointments are scheduled to assess the mother’s recovery, address any postpartum issues, and provide ongoing support as needed.

Diabetic Screening

Diabetic screening is important for expectant mothers because diabetes, especially gestational diabetes, can pose serious risks to both the mother and the baby during pregnancy. Screening helps identify women who may have undiagnosed diabetes or are at risk of developing gestational diabetes, allowing for early intervention and management. Proper management of diabetes during pregnancy can reduce the risk of complications such as preterm birth, macrosomia (large birth weight), birth defects, preeclampsia, and other adverse outcomes, ultimately promoting a healthier pregnancy and birth for both mother and child.

Labor and Delivery Services

Elite Women’s Healthcare has discontinued the labor and delivery part of our practice to focus on pre and post-partum pregnancy wellness. Expecting mothers can deliver at any local hospital. This also supports women who choose to use a midwife or at-home birthing option.
